Harun Masiku Is Considered To Be A Journey To Restore KPK's Trust If Not Immediately Arrested
JAKARTA - Former investigator of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Yudi Purnomo assessed that former PDIP legislative candidate Harun Masiku, who had escaped five years ago, had to be caught immediately. This is because this fugitive has become an obstacle to restore public confidence in the anti-corruption commission.
"If you are not caught, it will always be a burden for the KPK, so it is rather difficult for the leadership who has just restored public trust in the KPK because Harun Masiku will always be a stumbling block," Yudi told reporters in a written statement, Monday, December 23.
Yudi said Harun's search should have been carried out with a breakthrough. In addition, the process must also be more manageable so that the movement cannot be read by anyone, including those who hide or finance.
"Conventional ways of summoning witnesses that could potentially cause polemics and noise must be abandoned," he said.
"Because apart from being prone to politicization or orders, even though actually the search for fugitives is law enforcement, it should be avoided as much as possible," continued the former chairman of the KPK Employee Forum.
As previously reported, Harun Masiku has been a fugitive since 2020 or for four years. His whereabouts were unknown after the KPK failed to arrest him during a hand arrest operation (OTT) for bribing former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan.
The KPK has now updated its wanted list (DPO) on behalf of Harun Masiku. The file was signed by the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Nurul Ghufron, on December 5, 2024 and registered with the number: R/5739/DIK.01.02/01-23/12/2024.
