Airlangga Affirms The Government Is Optimistic To Reach 8 Percent Economic Growth

JAKARTA - The government is optimistic that it can encourage economic growth to reach 8 percent. One of the indicators that are the mainstay is consumption and investment.

The government targets the investment value for 2025 to reach Rp1,900 trillion to Rp2,100 trillion and within 5 years it will reach Rp13,000 trillion.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said, to achieve the growth target through this investment, the government continues to pay attention to the Incremental Capital Output Ratio (ICOR) figures which show a relationship between economic growth and investment.

According to Airlangga, this is to increase investment, and continue to strive to build various infrastructures to encourage economic centers, one of which is through Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and Industrial Estates.

"So logistics are key, productivity is also the second key, it will be associated with demographic bonuses. The three purchasing power of the community, pushing the middle class to become middle and upper," said Airlangga in his statement, Sunday, December 22.

He explained that one of the Industrial Estates that can serve as a pilot is the Industrial Estate in Weda Bay, which is a downstream center where nickel will be processed into battery stone material, cell batteries, and various other products, with an investment of 15 billion US dollars and within 6 years it has an export of 7 billion US dollars.

In addition, Airlangga said there were also 22 SEZs that needed to be encouraged, especially regarding logistical efficiency.

In addition to encouraging downstreaming policies, Airlangga also explained that one sector that can also support the achievement of economic growth, namely tourism.

According to Airlangga, to be able to open access and attract tourists, the government will continue to encourage connectivity, especially airway transportation.

Furthermore, Airlangga talked about the development of Human Resources (HR) is certainly an important aspect in increasing competitiveness which will continue to be encouraged by the Government through education and training.

Airlangga said the government continues to strive to increase investment in education development through collaboration with various international educational institutions such as Apple Academy and King's College London.

Various training programs are also offered by the government to improve competence through the Pre-Employment Card policy.
