US Military Accidentally Shoots Its Own Fighter Plane In The Red Sea

JAKARTA - The United States (US) military accidentally shot down one of its own warplanes over the Red Sea on Sunday morning. The two crew members who were shot saved themselves in a seat.

Both survived, one of which suffered minor injuries. US Central Command said this eristiwa was being investigated.

Reported by Reuters on Sunday, December 22, the fighter plane that was shot was the F/A-18 Hornet. This jet flies off the aircraft carrier Harry S.

One of the aircraft escorting the aircraft carrier reportedly mistakenly shot the plane.

The Red Sea has been the center of military activity for more than a year when US forces fought Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen.

The US military said it had opened fire on Houthi drones and missiles over the Red Sea on Saturday, December 21 and attacked the command and control site and missile storage in Sanaa.
