Dramatic Win 2-1, Atletico Moves Barcelona From The Top Of The Standings

JAKARTA - Atletico Madrid successfully shifted Barcelona from the top of the standings after a dramatic 2-1 win in the 19th week of LaLiga 2024/25 match which took place at the Estadio Olimpico Lluis Company on Sunday morning WIB.

Barcelona took the lead thanks to goals in the first half, but the visitors managed to steal three points thanks to goals from Rodrigo De Paul and Alexander Sorloth.

With this result, Barcelona dropped to second with 38 points and Atletico won top with 41 points.

However, Diego Simeone's team also has one postponed match, as reported by the official Spanish League website.

The hosts got a chance first in the 6th minute, but Robert Lewandowski's header bounced over Atletico's goal.

Meanwhile, Inigo Martinez's close-range shot in the 22nd minute which began with a corner was thwarted by goalkeeper Jan Oblak.

Reported by ANTARA, Barcelona finally opened the scoring in the 30th minute. Pedri, who made a one-two pass with Gavi to break through Atletico's defense and then fired a low shot into the right corner of the Oblak goal.

The score became 1-0 and lasted until halftime.

In the second half, Barcelona had a chance to increase their lead in the 48th minute. However, Fermin Lopez's close-range shot was cleared by Oblak.

Atletico fought back. Athletes on their first target was released by Clement Lenglet remotely in the 53rd minute, but was successfully cleared by goalkeeper Inaki Pena.

Barcelona again had a dangerous chance from Pedri, but his left foot shot in the 55th minute was not on target.

Two minutes later, Barcelona almost scored their second goal if Raphinha's shot didn't hit the crossbar.

Instead of adding to the advantage, Barcelona conceded in the 60th minute. Starting from the quick attack built by Atletico, Marc Casado then threw the ball into Barca's penalty box.

However, the wild ball headed to Rodrigo De Paul who immediately shot remotely to find Pena's goal. The score became 1-1.

Jan Oblak became a sturdy wall for Atletico. He managed to thwart Raphinha's one-on-one chance in the 86th minute.

The Slovenian goalkeeper also secured Pedri's chance one minute later.

Atletico's counter-attack again bore fruit. In the 90+6 minute, the replacement's collaboration broke into Barcelona's goal.

Nahuel Molina's mature pass was grabbed by Alexander Sorloth to make the score 2-1 for Atletico Madrid.

No additional goals were created until the game ended. Barcelona closed 2024 with defeat.
