7 Adab Against The Qur'an That Must Be Understanded And Practiced By Muslims

YOGYAKARTA - The Qur'an is a holy book in Islam containing verses of the word of Allah SWT. The contents of this book are used as instructions or teachings for Muslims about the good things that must be done and bad things that are prohibited. There are some customs of the Qur'an that Muslims must understand.

Reading the Qur'an is a practice that has extraordinary virtues for Muslims. The Prophet SAW in hadith once said that the best worship is reading the Qur'an. Here's the sound of the sabda:

"It is best that the worship of my people is reading the Qur'an." (HR Baihaqi)

In surah Al Qamar verse 17 it is also stated that the Qur'an is a book that is easy to study. As the following paragraph reads:

Let's talk about it, let's talk about it, let's talk about it.

Meaning: And we have actually made it easy for the Quran to learn, so has anyone taken lessons?

So how is it about the Qur'an that Muslims need to know and do?

Quoting from the Adab Islam textbooks by Suhendi and Ahmad Syukri, here are some adabs that Muslims can understand when reading the Qur'an:

Before reading the Qur'an, straighten out your intentions with a sincere heart and do it solely to seek pleasure and reward from Allah SWT. Every act of deeds depends on intention, as conveyed by the Prophet Muhammad SAW.

"Indeed, every charity of the act depends on the intention and each person gets a reply according to their respective intentions." (HR Bukhari and Muslim)

A Muslim who will read the Qur'an is recommended to be in a holy state and in a clean place. In fact, it is advisable to clean up before holding the Qur'an. This is in accordance with the word of Allah SWT in Surah Al-Waqi'ah paragraph 79 below:

Let's say it's a good idea, let's do it, let's do it, let's do it, let's do it, let's do it, let's do it, let's do it, let's do it, let's do it.

Meaning: Don't touch it unless people are tainted.

The teachings in the verse are in line with the sabda of the Prophet Muhammad SAW which states, "Don't touch the Qur'an unless it's in a holy state." (A history of At-Thabrani)

Before reading the Qur'an, start with ta'awudz. By saying it, a Muslim hopes or asks for protection from Allah SWT from the disturbance of the devil is cursed. Regarding this, it is stated in surah An Nahl verse 98 as follows:

Let's talk about it, let's talk about it, let's talk about it.

Meaning: If you read the Qur'an, please ask Allah for protection from the devil who is cursed.

Tartil means reading the Qur'an slowly and in no hurry. A Muslim is advised to read his verses in an orderly manner, stopping at the end of every verse. Reading the Qur'an carelessly, too quickly, or in a hurry can damage the quality of reading.

When reading the Qur'an, a Muslim is advised to sing it in a melodious and beautiful voice. However, this should be done according to each other's abilities without the need to force themselves.

Every verse read by a Muslim should be absorbed and interpreted with full appreciation. In this way, every reading sung will provide benefits and blessings.

When you feel sleepy, you should stop reading. The recommendation is in accordance with the hadiths from Abu Hurairah RA as follows:

"If one of you performs night prayers, then his tongue is stiff to read the Qur'an because he is sleepy and he doesn't know what he is reading, then watch him." (HR Muslim).

Those are some of the adaptations to the Qur'an that must be understood and done by Muslims. Reading the Qur'an is a practice that has priority for Muslims. Also read whether it is permissible to read the Qur'an without sound.
