Woman Killer Brother-in-law With Her Mode Of Drinking Herbal Medicine Mixed With Poison Arrested

PALEMBANG - Polestabes Palembang, South Sumatra, revealed a murder case with the motive of drinking herbal medicine by a woman with the initials RA (19) years, a resident of Jalan Panca Usaha, Lorong Waqf 4, Kelurahan 5 Ulu, Seberang Ulu I District, Palembang.

Palembang Police Chief Kombes Harryo Sugihartono explained that the disclosure of the herbal drink-motivated murder case occurred on Wednesday, December 18, 2024. The woman with the initials RA has now been named a suspect.

The suspect did this to the victim with the initials AN (12) years old who is his sister-in-law.

"The suspect invited a herbal drink competition with the lure of a prize worth Rp. 300,000. However, the drinks given by the suspect to the victim have been mixed with poison purchased by the suspect online," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, December 20.

Harryo explained that after drinking herbal medicine mixed with poison, victim AN complained of the heat in the throat, vomited, and eventually fell unconscious in the bathroom.

Meanwhile, the perpetrator let the victim lie for 1.2 hours before dragging the victim's body behind a plastic cupboard in the kitchen and escaping from the location.

The motive for the perpetrator's murder was because he was suspected of being hurt by the victim who often said rude words and insulted his son.

In disclosing this case, the police confiscated a number of evidences, including bottles of used toxic drinks, victim's clothes, three cell phones, and evidence of ordering poison online.

Suspect RA was charged with Article 76 C in conjunction with Article 80 Paragraph 3 of Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection, Article 340 of the Criminal Code concerning premeditated murder, and Article 338 of the Criminal Code concerning ordinary murder with a penalty ranging from 15 years in prison to the death penalty.
