Vice President Ensures KCIC Karawang Station Operates Year-End Holidays
Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka ensured that the Indonesia China Fast Train (KCIC) station in Karawang, West Java, was ready to operate to accommodate community mobilization using public transportation at the end of the year holiday.
Gibran conducted a direct review to ensure that the station project was completed on time, and could meet the needs of the community in line with President Prabowo Subianto's direction in the Limited Meeting of Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 Preparations.
"God willing, [the station] in Karawang will be ready on December 24," said Gibran as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, December 20. In addition to reviewing public transportation access to citizen mobility at the end of the year holiday, Vice President Gibran also saw the readiness of supporting facilities for private vehicle users.
After seeing the readiness of KCIC Karawang Station, Gibran visited the Km 149 Gedebage Toll Exit, Bandung, West Java.
The vice president stated that toll road access is also a concern for President Prabowo so that the year-end holiday can run smoothly.
The government has prepared several temporary functional toll roads that are planned to be opened soon to support the smooth mobility of the community.
"The point is we don't want congestion or buildup during new Christmas," he said.
Gibran encourages parties involved in preparing facilities and infrastructure for the new Christmas holidays, so that they can prioritize security and safety aspects, especially at strategic points.
One of them is by optimizing the surveillance system, so that the operations of all supporting devices can run smoothly.
Regarding preparations for the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year holidays, previously the President had held a limited meeting (ratas), at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, Monday (16/12).
In his directive, President Prabowo emphasized the importance of creating a safe and comfortable atmosphere so that people can celebrate the moment with great kindness and joy.
"I want to get the latest reports from the security sector as well as the transportation sector, then reports on fuel supply, food availability, and other basic commodities, as well as labor, and the tourism sector," said President Prabowo when opening the meeting.
