Ahead Of Barcelona's Meeting, Conor Gallagher: Of Course Atletico Will Win La Liga This Season
JAKARTA - Conor Gallagher said Atletico Madrid and Manager Diego Simeone were very suitable for him.
Gallagher just joined Atletico from Chelsea last summer. He has now scored two goals and provided one assist in 20 games in all competitions this season.
Atletico are second in the La Liga standings, having the same points as Barcelona after losing only one league game this season.
"You can see the type of player he (Simeone) likes and that he needs in his system. I think it's perfect for me."
"So, it was one of the decisions why I felt it was the perfect step for me. Hopefully I can continue to grow and (continue) help him as much as possible."
"I feel at home at the club. Everyone at the club makes me feel at home, that's amazing."
"Of course it's sometimes difficult, the first few months to play as many games as possible. I'm still learning the language and getting to know new teammates and many other things," Gallagher told ESPN.
This match made the 24-year-old midfielder quickly adapt to Los Rojiblancos. The target of winning the 2024/2025 La Liga title or in his first season at Atletico was immediately suspended.
"I think if you look at it now, (the success) of course is to win the league."
"I think it will be a target for every season with a club like this. We had a good start."
"We are in a good position at the moment. As the manager said, we are going through game after game," said Gallagher.
Atletico Madrid have undermined the competition between Barcelona and Real Madrid in the race for the La Liga title this season.
They have matched points with Barcelona even though they have one game more.
The meeting with the Blaugrana on Sunday, December 22, 2024 will show how the competition will take place in the future. If Atletico overthrow Barcelona at home, the Olimpic Lluis Companys Stadium, they will dominate the top of the standings.
Instead of Barcelona and Real Madrid, Atletico secretly actually had the best performance in La Liga.
Diego Simeone's team became the team with the fewest defeats, once, throughout the 17 matches that had been played.
