Members Of Commission X Of The House Of Representatives Of The PAN Faction Call The Merger Of Ristek And Dikbud Is Appropriate
JAKARTA - Member of Commission X DPR RI Pan Zainuddin Maliki Faction, assessed the appropriate merger of research and technology to the Ministry of Education. Because according to him, human resources that have a strong research tradition are still in college.
Likewise, various instruments of research and development of technology, located in higher education institutions. So that Ristek (research and technology) and Dikbud (education and culture) can synergize.
"As long as research and technology are separated from the Ministry of Education, many pressing issues and problems are faced by this nation. Because it does not get the touch of research as it should be", said Zainuddin, Thursday, April 15.
For example, Zainuddin continued, the problem of COVID-19 cannot be controlled and has a stagnation impact on various national lives. Finally, he said, vaccines must be imported due to weak research in the field of science and medical technology.
According to the East Java legislator, Indonesia should learn about the modernization of technology from foreign universities.
"I visited Southampton University in England a month after the December 2004 Aceh tsunami. Our arrival was presented with research photos of the characteristics of the land under the sea after the tsunami in Aceh. I was made inferior because our own colleges have not done the same thing", he said.
Realizing the importance of overcoming post-tsunami problems, he said, ten years after the Aceh tsunami disaster, BNPB (National Agency for Disaster Management) under the leadership of General (Purn) Syamsul Ma'arif provided tsunami-related research facilities to several universities.
Therefore, Zainuddin hopes that the return of research and technology to the Ministry of Education can revive research activities and technology development.
"It's just that success is still very dependent on leadership factors. It is needed that does have a tradition, experience and strong insights in the field of research and technology development", he said.
