Ahead Of Christmas And New Year, Minister Of Transportation Reviews Surabaya's Purabaya Terminal

JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi visited Purabaya Terminal, Sidoarjo, East Java. Dudy emphasized that security and cleanliness in the terminal area need to be improved during the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year transportation periods.

Dudy said security and cleanliness are the keys to the comfort of the community. He also reminded that controlling passenger searchers at the terminal needs to be intensified so that people are comfortable.

"Security, both at the terminal and along the way also needs to be maintained. Buses at ramp check for safety. Don't forget the cleanliness of the terminal also continue to be ensured. Views of this terminal must be improved," he said in an official statement, Friday, December 20.

Based on a survey by the Ministry of Transportation, passengers at the Parabaya Bus Terminal are expected to increase by 26 to 37 percent during Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025. On weekdays, the Parubaya Terminal serves a total departure and arrival of passengers an average of 32,017 passengers per day.

"Meanwhile, in the Nataru period, it is predicted that the number of passengers served will reach an average of 42,038 passengers per day," he said.

To anticipate the density of passengers, continued Dudy, there are a number of steps that have been and will be taken. First, open the Nataru post at 4 points to serve the community. Second, open a media center post as a center for public information related to transportation during the Christmas and New Year.

"This real-time CCTV is very important to monitor activities at terminals and shelter points. Hopefully, the community will be better protected by this CCTV," said the Minister of Transportation.
