Failed To Catch Cats, Komodo On Rinca Island Bites Grandpa Who Rests In The Gardens
LABUAN BAJO - A 74-year-old grandfather named Hamradilalaporkan was bitten by a Komodo dragon while resting at his hut on Rinca Island, Kerora Hamlet, Pasir Panjang Village, Komodo District, West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
"It happened at around 14.00 WITA," said the victim's relative, Ira Santika (21) when met at the Komodo Labuan Bajo Hospital, reported by ANTARA, Thursday, December 19.
The residents found the incident because they heard the victim's hysterical wife screaming when she saw the victim being bitten by a Komodo while resting in the hut in the middle of the garden.
Actually, the Komodo dragon was chasing a cat running into the hut. However, because the cat escaped, the Komodo dragon actually attacked the victim.
"When he was attacked by him, he saw that it was not clear because he was old and his wife was expelling monkeys in the garden," said Ira.
As a result of the incident, the victim suffered a bite wound on his left leg.
The victim was then evacuated by his relative using a motorboat through a jetty in Lenteng Hamlet, Golo Mori Village, to be subsequently evacuated using the Komodo National Park (TNK) operational car to the Komodo Labuan Bajo Regional General Hospital (RSUD).

The victim's son, Suhardin (18), said his father had undergone medical treatment. "There are 39 stitches on the left leg," he said.
The victim is currently in a stable condition and is still being treated intensively at the Emergency Installation (IGD) of the Komodo Labuan Bajo Hospital.
Separately, the Head of the TNK Center, Hendrikus Rani Siga, appealed to residents to increase their vigilance in their activities because they live side by side with the Komodo crew.
"There is no other choice but to always be aware of Komodo, because the people live in the same area as Komodo," he said.
