Commission III Of The House Of Representatives Supports Prabowo's Call To Corruptors To Return Corruption Proceeds

JAKARTA - Member of Commission III of the DPR RI, Abdullah supports the attitude of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto who asks corruptors to repent and return the stolen people's money.

According to him, not only acts of corruption were eradicated, but money from corruption also had to be returned to the state so that it could cover state losses.

"The stolen people's money must be returned, so that it can be used for the welfare of the people," Abdullah said, Thursday, December 19.

In line with that, Abdullah, who is familiarly called Gus Abduh, assessed that law enforcers, both the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the Attorney General's Office (AGO) must also be more serious about returning state money stolen by corruption.

"KPK and the AGO have a tough task to return the money stolen by the corruptors," he said.

The legislator for the Central Java VI electoral district then explained the KPK data in the period January to October 2024, where the anti-corruption agency had submitted Rp 637.99 billion from various corruption cases to the state treasury. The money returned by the KPK to the state treasury could still increase, because there were still assets looted by corruption that were still in the auction process.

In addition, the AGO also handed over return money from a number of corruption cases. In detail, confiscated money from corruption worth Rp 48.3 billion, replacement money for corruption crimes amounting to Rp 2.2 trillion, money from the auction of corruption looted goods worth Rp 1.42 trillion, fines resulting from corruption Rp 28.4 billion, and the return of state money amounting to Rp 76.4 billion

In the future, continued Gus Abduh, law enforcers must work harder to seize and return the people's money stolen by the corruptors to the state treasury.

"Law enforcers must set a strategy on how the stolen people's money from corruptors can return. This is a big homework," he concluded.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto called on corruptors to repent and return the funds they had stolen from the people.

Prabowo said the call when he spoke to Indonesian students in Cairo, Egypt, about the issue of corruption.

"I am in this week, this month, this month, I am in order to give an opportunity, give me a chance to repent, hey corruptors, or who have felt like stealing from the people, if you return what you stole, maybe we will forgive, but return it," Prabowo said in front of Indonesian students, Wednesday, December 18, yesterday.

Prabowo also emphasized that there would be a way to return the proceeds from corruption with the option of recovering behind closed doors.

"Later we will give the opportunity to return it secretly, not caught, return it, but return it," he said.
