Ahead Of Christmas And New Year, Rice And Chili Prices At Kramat Jati Market Soar Significantly
JAKARTA - Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Province, Teguh Setyabudi, said that food prices such as rice and chili increased ahead of Christmas and New Year's 2025.
"We just went to the Kramat Jati Main Market, there we monitored vegetables, chilies did increase. From all the information we got (price increases occur) because the weather is quite extreme in various production areas," Teguh said when found at the Food Station Rice Warehouse, East Jakarta, Antara, Thursday, December 19.
Teguh explained, the price of cayenne pepper and red chili has increased significantly. Previously, the price of chili was around Rp. 20,000 to approximately Rp. 40,000.
However, Teguh ensured that the availability of stock was still adequate. Not only cayenne pepper, Teguh also said that the price of shallots also increased even though the price was still quite affordable.
Actually, shallots are also abundant in stock because of the many production areas that must have been harvested. However, (red onion) has also experienced an increase in prices, although the increase is still very tolerated, the range is between Rp. 5000, some are priced at Rp. 10,000 depending on quality," said Teguh.
For other food prices, Teguh said there were still relatively no problems.
The availability of rice, which is coordinated by the Food Station and Cipinang Rice Main Market, has also been reviewed for 70,500 tons and enough for the next two to three months.
However, the price of rice was observed to increase by around Rp50 per kilogram and this increase rate, said Teguh, could still be controlled.
"Meanwhile, we also saw other things, such as cooking oil, eggs, then also chicken meat, beef, everything, God willing, it is safe. I still ask business actors for cooperation," explained Teguh.
Ahead of Christmas and New Year's 2025, Teguh explained that there were several efforts made by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to ensure the availability and price of food.
