President Prabowo Meets Indonesian Students At Al-Azhar Cairo

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto met hundreds of Indonesian students studying at Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt, after meeting Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi at the Al Ittihadiya Presidential Palace.

In front of hundreds of Indonesian students, President Prabowo expressed his pride for them and advised students to study diligently.

"You are our children who will continue the journey of our nation, the Indonesian nation. Therefore, it is very important for you to study well, study diligently, study properly," said the President during a speech at the Al-Azhar Conference building, Al-Azhar University, Cairo, reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 18.

The President is grateful that many Indonesian students chose to study at Al-Azhar University, as one of the historical and oldest campuses in the world.

"The Al-Azhar University is a very historic university, an Islamic university that teaches peaceful Islamic lessons, cool Islam, moderate Islam, Islam that does not teach hatred, Islam that teaches each other to find fault, but seeks common ground," said President Prabowo.

Therefore, the President also invited students to practice the lessons about Islam they received at Al-Azhar, namely working with all nations, with all religions, all ethnic groups, and races.

We want to live a good life in this world. A good life in this world means a life that is free from fear, free from threats," said the President.

In his speech, President Prabowo also delivered his meeting with Egyptian President El-Sisi, including discussions on cooperation in various fields, and close relations between Indonesia and Egypt that have existed since the early days of Indonesia's independence.

"Earlier, President El-Sisi also said that every time he saw the face of Indonesians in Egypt, he always saw a good face, a happy face. Hopefully that's true too. However, if I look at your face, it seems true too," said President Prabowo to hundreds of Indonesian students at Al-Azhar University.

After giving a speech, Prabowo left the location of the event, and along the way to his vehicle, he greeted a number of students who stood in line along the hall of the building to the courtyard of the building.

President Prabowo also served requests for student selfies on the sidelines of heading to his vehicle. Several students, who looked enthusiastic about the President's arrival, also chased Prabowo's presidential car.
