PBVSI Targets Proliga 2026 Followed By 16 Teams
JAKARTA The All-Indonesian Volleyball Association (PBVSI) has set a target for the 2026 Proliga to be followed by 16 teams, consisting of eight daughters and eight sons.
The General Chairperson of PBVSI, Imam Sudjarwo, said that the number of teams will automatically increase along with the implementation of the salt cap regulation or salary limit which is currently being discussed.
"We will determine the paper stamp. What it looks like, we are working on it. God willing, if this is done, there will be many teams playing," said Imam at a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.
The graph of Proliga participants is currently still up and down. In the 2025 edition, which will start at the beginning of next year, is even only followed by 12 clubs, shrinking two teams from the 2024 competition season.
This instability is allegedly the impact of the absence of salary limit rules from the federation so that teams that do not have financial power pay players automatically back.
Imam said that the regulation related to salaries caps had been carried out by the team in the last four months. However, it cannot be applied to the 2025 edition of the Proliga.
