Monday Opened The Rupiah To Weakens To A Level Of Rp16,450 Per US Dollar
JAKARTA - The rupiah exchange rate on the spot market opened slightly lower on Monday, April 6 trading. The rupiah opened down 20 points to a level of Rp16,450 per US dollar (US).
Monex Investindo Futures Head Researcher, Ariston Tjendra said, even though the rupiah opened lower, there was positive sentiment that overshadowed the movement of risk assets this morning with stock indices such as the Nikkei and Hang Seng moving positively, as well as the US stock index futures.
"The market seems to be looking for reasons to rebound amidst the economic conditions that are still not conducive," explained Ariston to VOI.
According to him, this time positive sentiment was encouraged because the data on death rates due to the COVID-19 outbreak decreased in several pandemic center countries such as the US, Italy, Spain and other European countries. This data means that the peak period of the pandemic may soon pass.
"Today, the rupiah may also strengthen following the market's positive sentiment. The movement is in the range of Rp. 16,300-16,500 per US dollar," he said.
