AHY: A Train Without Transit Can Be An Alternative For Year-End Holiday Transportation

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Development (Menko Infra) Agus Harimukti Yudhoyono (AHY) assessed that direct trains (KA) without transiting the Jakarta-Yogyakarta route could be an alternative transportation during the year-end holidays.

"It can be said that it is comfortable to use and is an excellent alternative to transportation," said Coordinating Minister AHY as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, December 17.

He said that from a number of existing modes of transportation, both land, sea and air, rail transportation could be an alternative for the community, especially during the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year holidays.

According to AHY, the train continues to be a favorite as well as a prima donna for public transportation.

Therefore, he hopes that the transportation will be more advanced in terms of service, security, safety, and timeliness.

"The train continues to be a favorite, becoming the prima donna of public transportation, which we hope will be more advanced, developing, good service, especially aspects of security, safety, timeliness. I think it will always be our hope," said AHY.

He invited all to continue to synergize and collaborate to advance railways in Indonesia.

Previously, Coordinating Minister AHY accompanied by the Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi, Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Nusron Wahid, Deputy Minister of SOEs Kartika Wirjoatmodjo, President Director of KAI Didiek Hartantyo and a number of other officials tested the train (KA) test without transiting the Jakarta-Yogyakarta route.

The group departed from Gambir Station, Jakarta on Monday (16/12) at 23.25 WIB and arrived at Yogyakarta Tugu Station on Tuesday at 05.30 WIB.

Arriving at Tugu Yogyakarta Station, Coordinating Minister AHY greeted a number of prospective passengers who were at the station. There were even a number of prospective passengers who asked to take selfies.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Transportation stated that based on the survey that has been conducted, the potential movement of Christmas and New Year 2024/2025 is predicted to reach 110.67 million movements. Then, the number of passengers at the terminal is predicted to be 2.5 million, crossing 1.6 million, at stations 6.8 million, at ports 1.3 million, and at airports 8.2 million.

Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi ensured the readiness of transportation supporting facilities and infrastructure during the Christmas and New Year 2025 holidays.
