PBVSI Reveals Reasons For The 2025 Proliga Final To Be Canceled At The Indonesia Arena

JAKARTA The All-Indonesian Volleyball Association (PBVSI) revealed several reasons why the 2025 Grand Final Proliga was canceled at the Indonesia Arena, Jakarta.

The General Chairperson of PBVSI, Imam Sudjarwo, said that there were several considerations that underlie the change in the location of the match at the top of the event from the original plan.

"The consideration is, first there are not many teams, only five. Then secondly, we have ordered those in Yogyakarta. Previously there were two, in Yogyakarta or here," he said in Jakarta on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.

In a statement received earlier this month, the Indonesia Arena actually entered the location of the final from the highest level Indonesian volleyball league.

However, the location has now changed to less than a month before the start of the competition. Among Rogo's GOR in Yogyakarta was also confirmed as the peak arena for the 2025 Proliga.

Imam said that Yogyakarta was re-elected as the Grand Final after their share in the 2024 edition was transferred to the Indonesia Arena, Senayan, Jakarta.

"At that time, it should have been there (GOR Among Rogo), but it was moved here (Indonesia Arena). So, this wants to treat the people of Yogyakarta. I promise this year we will move it again there," said Imam.

Proliga 2025 will start on January 3, 2025 to May 11, 2025. A total of 12 teams are contestants, consisting of seven women's teams and five men's teams.

The number of men's teams has shrunk compared to the 2024 season. Two teams that were confirmed absent because they did not continue their contracts were Kudus Sukun Badak and Jakarta BIN.

In addition, the women's team Jakarta BIN as the defending champion is also confirmed to be absent. The team position was replaced by a newcomer, Yogya Falcons.
