SBY Highlights The Reduction Of The 2025 Proliga Participants Graphics
JAKARTA Former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) as the owner of the Jakarta volleyball club LavAni opened his voice regarding the decline in the male category of participants in the 2025 Proliga event.
The highest level volleyball league competition in Indonesia will take place from January 3, 2025 to May 11, 2025. Unfortunately, the number of participants has decreased significantly.
SBY admitted that the development and achievement of Indonesian volleyball actually improved. However, the decline in the number in the 2025 Proliga shows that there are problems that must be corrected immediately.
"In this regard, the All-Indonesian Volleyball Association (PBVSI) needs to find out why this decline occurred," the Sixth President of the Republic of Indonesia wrote in a long record on social media X.

Proliga 2025 will be followed by 12 teams, consisting of seven women's teams and five men's teams. The number of teams was the same as last season, but the men's team lost Kudus Sukun Badak and Jakarta BIN.
From the women's team, Jakarta BIN is also absent in the 2025 edition. The team, which was strengthened last season by Megawati Hanggetri Pertiwi, has the status of defending champion Proliga, but has not continued the contract.
Their position was replaced by the newcomer team, Yogya Falcons. This team made a breakthrough in their debut with the arrival of the volleyball queen from Kazakhstan, Sabina Altynbekova.
SBY said that if the withdrawal of these teams is related to the costs that must be incurred, especially the high salaries of foreign players, then PBVSI needs to make a policy of limiting salary that is commonly applied in other countries.
"The increase in salaries of foreign athletes who are not limited should be suspected of causing demotivation among volleyball clubs in the country because they feel they are no longer able to compete in the Proliga arena," he said.
The plan is that the 2025 Proliga will take place in nine major cities of Indonesia, which are currently still in the discussion stage. The match, which marks the opening of the competition, is likely to take place in the Greater Jakarta area.
At first, PBVSI wanted to give the opening ceremony to the Jakarta BIN women's team. However, the absence of the team created a federation that took over the opening of the competition.
In the 2024 edition, the opening of the Proliga took place at the Among Rogo Sports Hall, Yogyakarta, and the closing was held at the Indonesia Arena, Senayan, Jakarta. So, it is possible that this can happen again in the 2025 edition.
