BPS Records Indonesia Imports 3.85 Million Tons Of Rice Since January 2024

JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reports that from January to November 2024 Indonesia is known to have imported 3.85 million tons of rice.

"Sepjang Januari hingga November 2024, Indonesia telah memporkan 3,85 juta ton rice," ujarnya dalam konferensi pers, Senin, 16 Desember.

Plt. Head of BPS, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti said, the rice imported was mostly half milled rice or completely ground in the HS 10063099 code as much as 3.39 million tons or approximately 88.20 percent of the total rice imports.

In addition, there are other rice such as basmati rice and broken rice which are also imported with a very small value compared to the previous HS code.

Amalia said, from January to November 2024, the origin of Indonesia's rice imports mainly came from Thailand with a volume of 1.19 million tons or approximately 30.97 percent of the total rice imports. The second importing country is Vietnam with imports of 1.12 million tons or 29.10 percent. Followed by Myanmar with imports of 663.41 thousand tons or 17.24 tons,

"Pakistan is 642.14 thousand tons or 16.69 percent and India is 205.80 thousand tons or 5.35 percent," he explained.

The following types of rice imported by Indonesia since January:

Semi-milled or totally milled rice (HS 10063099): 3,393.53 thousand tons (88.20 percent)

Broken rice (HS 10064090): 434.82 thousand tons (11.30 percent)

Basmati rice (HS 10063050): 7.45 thousand tons (0.19 percent)

Rice in the law for swing (HS 10061010): 0.02 tons (0.00 percent)

Rice in the law, not for souping (HS 10061090): 0 tons (0.00 percent)

Others: 11.81 thousand tons (0.31 percent)
