PBSI Identifies 2 Problems That Cause Indonesia To Fail At BWF World Tour Finals 2024

JAKARTA The Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) identified the players' mental and physical problems as the cause of Indonesia's failure at the 2024 BWF World Tour Finals.

PBSI Coach Coordinator, Mulyo Handoyo, said that actually technically the performances of Indonesian players were maximized, but their stamina was lost.

"The appearance of children is maximized, but in the future, physical and mental conditions must be improved," he said in a statement received.

Indonesia sent as many as six representatives to the closing event of the season. Three of them returned home in the group stage and three others penetrated the semifinals.

Jonatan Christie and Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, who are representatives of the PBSI Cipayung National Training Center, both lost three games and failed to reach the final.

The Head of Pelatnas Achievement Development, Eng Hian, also agreed with the problems experienced by the players as revealed by PBSI Coach Coordinator Mulyo Handoyo.

"I am also very concerned about the preparation period for athletes. Almost all of our sectors need to improve their physical and non-physical or mental conditions. In the future I will focus more on improving these two things."

"This is not the best result, but we all have to be more confident in the vision and mission of the new management and of course we must have a new spirit and hope," he said.

This year's results extended the drought of Indonesia's title in the event since Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan brought home the title in the 2019 edition when Guangzhou took place.
