BMW Issues Withdrawal Orders In US And Germany, This Is An Affected Car

JAKARTA - Automotive manufacturer from Germany, BMW announced a recall that affected several thousand luxury vehicles from the ranks of 2024 models in Germany and the United States (US).

Launching from BMW Blog, Sunday, December 15, the start of the recall was caused by damage to the steering system so that it could cause dangerous driving conditions.

The root of the problem stems from double universal connection damage on the steering axis. If the connection is broken, the driver has the potential to experience stiff steering or unexpected shocks that increase the risk of an accident.

For the German market, the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) has issued a recall with reference numbers 14353R. This affects a number of models such as Series-5 (G60 and G61), Series-7, i5, i7 with ICE, and M5 engines. All cars are produced at BMW's Digolfing, Germany.

Although no incidents of property damage or personal injuries have been reported to date, BMW has taken proactive action to address the issue.

It is known that as many as 21,955 vehicles are affected worldwide with 4,950 units of them originating from Germany. The manufacturer will replace the components for free.

Meanwhile in the United States (US), BMW North America has issued a recall in October 2024 affecting 982 units of the 2024 and 2025 models from Series-5, Series-7, i5, and i7.

The defects on the dual universal connection of the steering axis reflect issues identified in Germany. BMW has stressed that no accidents or injuries related to this issue have been reported in the land of Sam's uncle.

The owner of the car affected in the US will be notified by letter and can contact the dealer to arrange for the replacement of the damaged parts for free.
