BWF World Tour Finals 2024: Febriana/Amallia Steps Stop

JAKARTA - The journey of Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi's women's doubles debut at the 2024 BWF World Tour Finals ended in the group stage.

They failed to advance to the semifinals after losing two straight games 14-21 and 19-21 against Chinese representatives, Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan, in the last match of Group B on Friday, December 13, 2024.

Febriana/Amallia had a really difficult match. They were left behind throughout the first game and had taken the lead twice in the second game, but the Chinese representatives were still too tough.

"Unfortunately, some of our last moments were not right and there was a miscontrol as well," Febriana said in a statement received.

This is the sixth competitive defeat suffered by Febriana/Amallia against Chen/Jia. Five defeats before that occurred respectively in 2022 (three times) and 2023 (two times).

In all those defeats, Febriana/Amallia also always gave up two straight games. Their biggest defeat occurred at the Malaysia Open 2023 (7-21 and 9-21).

"We want to be even more prepared in 2025. The less will be repaired and the good will be maintained," said Febriana or who is familiarly called Ana.

Febriana/Amallia closed the group stage with just one win against Japan's representatives, Rin Iwanaga/Kie Nakanishi, in the second match.

One point puts them in third place in the group's final standings, behind Chen/Jia and Baek Ha-na/Lee So-hee who secure tickets to the semifinals.
