West Java Bawaslu: Pilkada Dispute In 11 Regions Potentially Delays Regional Head Inauguration
The West Java Province General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) stated that the inauguration of regional heads in 11 regencies/cities in West Java has the potential to resign if the dispute over the results of the 2024 Pilkada vote recapitulation is not completed on time.
"A total of 11 regencies/cities could have resigned (the inauguration of their regional heads) if the dispute trial had not been completed in February 2025," said Head of West Java Bawaslu, Zacky Muhammad Zam Zam, Friday, December 13.
The eleven regions are Bogor, Sukabumi, Cianjur, Bandung, Tasikmalaya, Cirebon, Subang, West Bandung, Pangandaran, Bekasi City, and Depok City. Zacky emphasized that the dispute over the results of the Pilkada must be resolved at the Constitutional Court (MK) until the final decision is issued.
"If it is proven that there is a violation, maybe there will be a re-voting (PSU) at several disputed polling stations. But if it is not proven, then the inauguration process can be immediately continued," he explained.
West Java Bawaslu ensures that it will oversee the course of the dispute process at the Constitutional Court by providing a written statement according to its capacity. "We are ready to provide information regarding the principal dispute submitted by the candidate pairs who are suing," added Zacky.
Meanwhile, the Head of the West Java KPU Legal and Supervision Division, Aneu Nursifah, confirmed that 11 districts/cities were suing the results of the 2024 Pilkada. However, for the results of the West Java gubernatorial election (Pilgub), his party is still waiting for the existence or absence of a lawsuit to the Constitutional Court.
"If there is no lawsuit (to the Constitutional Court), we will go directly to the stage of determining the elected candidate," said Aneu.
