Ridwan Kamil-Suswono Not Submitting The 2024 Jakarta Pilkada Lawsuit To The Constitutional Court, This Is Golkar's Reason
JAKARTA - The candidate pair for governor and deputy governor of DKI Jakarta number 1, Ridwan Kamil-Suswono, has certainly not filed a lawsuit for the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada dispute with the Constitutional Court (MK).
This decision was explained by the Deputy Chairperson of the Golkar Party, Idrus Marham, by prioritizing the interests of the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) Plus and national political stability.
"In the context of interests, there must be a tug of war. The Golkar Party in several ways gave in to support the Advanced Indonesia Coalition, including the Jakarta Pilkada," said Idrus at the peak event of the 60th Anniversary of the Golkar Party at Sentul International Convention Center (SICC), Bogor, Thursday night.
Idrus emphasized that this decision is in line with the direction of President Prabowo Subianto, who asked all parties to prioritize the principles of togetherness and kinship in politics.
"The principle of the Golkar Party is to support nationality, kinship, and togetherness. This step is part of supporting the Prabowo-Gibran government," he explained.
Legally, the Ridwan Kamil-Suswono pair did not meet the requirements to file a dispute with the Constitutional Court in accordance with Article 158 of Law Number 10 of 2016 concerning Pilkada. The article stipulates that in the province with a population of 6 million to 12 million, a lawsuit can only be filed if the difference in votes is a maximum of 1% of the total valid votes.
With a fixed voter list (DPT) of 8,214,007, the maximum difference in filing a lawsuit is around 1%. However, official results show Ridwan Kamil-Suswono's pair won 39.40% of the votes (1,718,160 votes), adrift of about 10% of the winning pair, Pramono Anung-Rano Karno, who won 50.07% of the votes (2,183,239 votes). It's clearly regulated, provinces with a population of DKI Jakarta can only sue if the difference in votes is a maximum of 1%. The difference this time is around 10%, far above the provisions," said Idrus.
Idrus emphasized that the Golkar Party always respects the rule of law, although politically this decision feels detrimental.

"We have adhered to the principles from the start. We live in a state of law, so every step must be in accordance with the law, even though the impact is practically unfavorable," he said.
With this decision, Golkar affirmed its commitment to maintaining coalition stability and supporting a new government led by President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
