Golkar Encourages JK-Agung Laksono To Make Peace Without Lawsuits

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of the Golkar Party, Idrus Marham, assessed that two senior politicians, Jusuf Kalla (JK) and Agung Laksono, should set a good example, regarding the chaotic or dualism resulting from the 22nd National Conference of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI).

According to him, the maneuver between Jusuf Kalla and Agung Laksono for the "challenging" position of the General Chair of PMI does not reflect the values of the Golkar Party.

"If there are things like that, it is a dynamic, but our record as the next generation is to provide a good example to this generation," said Idrus as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, December 12.

According to him, Jusuf Kalla and Agung Laksono should have spoken well to agree on the results of the PMI National Conference. Moreover, he said both of them were party politicians bearing the banyan tree who had served as chairman.

He said the values of the Golkar Party were social solidarity, togetherness, and position distribution. He also believes that the two senior Golkar Party politicians have these values.

"Talk well, don't be like that, let alone sue until the law," said Idrus.

Earlier on Monday (9/12), the 22nd National Conference (Munas) of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) 2024 decided and received the accountability report of PMI General Chair Jusuf Kalla, and unanimously asked him to return to his position as General Chair of PMI for the 2024-2029 period.

However, another candidate for Chairman of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), Agung Laksono, reported the results of the 22nd PMI National Conference (Munas) organized by his party to the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham).

Agung claimed that his party had won more than 20 percent of the votes in support from PMI members in accordance with the provisions of the AD/ART, as many as 240 of the 392 members present.

Then JK reported Agung Laksono to the police and stated that PMI must have one in the country. According to him, Agung Laksono's maneuver that made the National Conference (Munas) against the 22nd PMI is an illegal step.
