Arne Slot Dissatisfied Even Though Liverpool Holds A Perfect Record In The Champions League

JAKARTA - Liverpool manager Arne Slot has demanded more than his team after they fought for a 1-0 win over Girona in the Champions League, Wednesday, December 11, 2024, early morning WIB.

Highlighting the party at the Montilivi Estadi, Arne Slot assessed that his troops looked far from the best performance.

They secured three points thanks to Mohamed Salah's penalty in the second half after Donny van de Beek was deemed to have fouled Luis Diaz in the penalty area.

This victory means Liverpool continue their perfect record in the 2024/2025 Champions League, having won six matches.

However, Arne Slot insists he is far from happy with his team's performance even though the Reds still hold a perfect record in the 2024/2025 Champions League.

The match against Girona shows the Reds are declining. The Dutch coach also emphasized that his students' performances should be improved if they have ambitions to advance far in Europe's top tournament.

"If you ask me about the six games, I'm very happy with all the results and performances in five games."

"I am far from happy with the performance against Girona. Especially two things."

"If you play against a team that has good ideas about football, know how to get the ball out like the team we've been fighting recently, Real Madrid and Manchester City, you have to be very intense."

"However, if you wait to press and be so easily beaten, this team can cause problems for you. That's what they show in the Champions League unless (against) PSV," Arne Slot told TNT Sports.

The 46-year-old manager said his team seemed less excited. In fact, they should have won convincingly.

"I feel sorry for them because they deserve more than three points."

"We had an incredible goalkeeper. When we lost the ball, we weren't aggressive enough."

"Almost no control at all in the game. Maybe the second half is a little better," said Arne Slot again.

Apart from these results, Liverpool have qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League this season.

There are still two games left and the Reds have packed 18 points from six parties. The win is no longer possible for Liverpool to be knocked out of the top eight of the standings even though they lost the remaining two matches.

Meanwhile, the remaining two matches in the Champions League group stage this season will be played in early 2025.
