Keep Norms And Culture In Society, LSF Affirms The Importance Of Broadcasting Materials

JAKARTA - Based on the Broadcasting Law, all film screening material must obtain a Sensor Passage Certificate (STLS) from the LSF before it is broadcast.

Chairman of the Naswardi Film Censorship Institute (LSF), emphasized the importance of censorship in broadcasting material, including films and advertisements broadcast on television.

"Of the total 41,500 titles that we value every year, the largest composition is for television. This is in accordance with the rules in the Broadcasting Law," said the Discussion of Two Directions with Editor-in-Chief with the theme "New Era Censor Film" at the Grandhika Iskandarsyah Hotel Ballroom, Jakarta, Monday.

Naswardi explained that although the LSF and the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) used different legal bases, the LSF refers to Permenparekraf Number 14 concerning censorship criteria, while KPI uses Broadcasting Codes and Broadcast Program Standards (P3SPS), the two institutions continue to cooperate.

"We have built a memorandum of understanding with KPI, especially regarding age classification. We also hold broadcasting literacy and promote the culture of independent censorship," he said.

According to Naswardi, LSF's task is to focus on pre-shadowing, while KPI handles post-view broadcasts.

In the assessment process, the LSF uses seven main criteria, including pornography, violence, addictive actions, gambling, and the humility of humans, religion, or women.

However, Naswardi emphasized that not all broadcasting material is mandatory through the LSF censorship, but there are exceptions for news and live broadcasts specifically regulated in the Press Law and are not part of its authority.

The LSF continues to strive to increase synergy with various parties to ensure broadcasting in Indonesia remains in accordance with the cultural norms and applicable values in society.

Not only that, the LSF also continues to monitor and censor content that airs on the platforms 'Over The Top' (OTT) and 'Video On Demand' (VOD), and until September 2024, there are 440 censorship program titles from various well-known streaming services, such as Netflix, Disney+, Vidio, to Viu.
