Sudanese Military Air Attack Targets North Darfur Market Kills More Than 100 People

JAKARTA - Sudan's military airstrikes targeted markets in North Darfur City killing more than 100 people and hundreds more injured on Monday 9 December.

This was conveyed on Tuesday, December 10 by the Emergency Lawyers, a group of pro-democracy lawyers that documented human rights violations during the 20-month war between Sudanese soldiers and the Paramilitary Rapid Support Forces or RSFs.

"Airstrikes occurred on weekly market days in the city, where residents from various nearby villages gathered for shopping, resulting in the deaths of more than 100 people and injuring hundreds of people, including women and children," read an Emergency Lawyers statement, quoted from AFP.

Emergency Lawyers strongly condemned the attack. They considered the airstrikes an attempted violent massacre by the army.

In a separate incident, a drone crash in North Kordofan, Central Sudan, on November 26 exploded on Monday night.

The incident killed six people, including children, and left three others seriously injured.
