Myanmar Vs Indonesia Results: Asnawi's Single Goal Brings Garuda To First Tripoin
JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team managed to get the full three points in the inaugural match of the 2024 AFF Cup against Myanmar. A 1-0 victory over the host was successfully created through a single goal from Asnawi Mangkualam.
Appearing at the Thuwanna Stadium, Yangon, on Monday, December 9, 2024, WIB night, the Indonesian national team with the status of the visitors immediately tried to suppress the movement at the beginning of the match. However, the efforts of Shin Tae-yong's team were immediately responded to quickly by Myanmar.
Just four minutes into the run, the home team had the first chance to score. Through an attack on the left wing by Maung Maung Lwin and greeted by Nanda Kyaw, Myanmar almost opened the scoring.
However, this effort failed after the direction of the ball was still sideways from the Indonesian national team goal.
After Myanmar's thrilling fast movement, the Garuda Squad continues to look for loopholes to be able to avenge attacks and open numbers. Exactly in the 14th minute the opportunity was created from the header of Hokky Caraka, but that effort was thwarted by the Myanmar goalkeeper.
After the two teams attacked each other, the game was heating up, especially since Myanmar in front of its supporters continued to intensify attacks. A double chance was created for Myanmar after Thiha Zaw's kick was parried by Cahya Supiadi and created a corner which was fortunately still blocked.
The attacks on the Indonesian national team's goal made Myanmar seem to have gained more confidence. In the Garuda Squad camp, opportunities were wasted through three consecutive corner kicks and one inward throw that had not been able to shake the opponent's net.
In the midst of the narrower first half remaining time, Myanmar had another chance. In the 38th minute the hosts tried to score the first goal through Zaw Win Thein, but the ball still hit the crossbar.
After 45 minutes of normal time, the referee decided to give him four minutes of injury time. However, this opportunity has not been able to be utilized by both teams and makes the first half match end in a 0-0 draw.
Continued to the second half, Shin Tae-yong as the head coach made changes to increase the strength of the bang. He included Asnawi Mangkualam, Victor Dethan, and Rafael Struick.
Shin Tae-yong's decision to include Rafael made the Indonesian national team's attack even more massive. In the 59th minute Struick tried to kick off from outside the penalty box, unfortunately Nyi Nyi Aung, who was guarding the Myanmar crossbar, was still able to block the ball.
After that effort, the movement of the Garuda Squad seemed more combined with possession of the ball and releasing baits in the opponent's defense area.
However, it was Myanmar who got the opportunity in the 70th minute to take advantage of the negligence of the Indonesian defense. Luckily, the movement of Pratama Arhan was able to block the ball that was processed by Ye Yint Aung.
Six minutes later, the deadlock of the Indonesian national team finally broke. The 1-0 score managed to belong to Muhammad Ferarri and colleagues after Asnawi Mangkualam's right-footed shot took advantage of the chaos in the penalty box which failed to be blocked by the Myanmar goalkeeper, Zin Nyi Nyi Aung, in the 76th minute.
In the remaining time, this opening goal made the Indonesian national team even more excited to double the number. Coach Shin Tae-yong even made another change by pulling Marselino Ferdianan and replacing him with Ronaldo Kwateh in the 88th minute.
However, there were no additional goals until the game was over. These three points made the Indonesian national team successfully start the 2024 AFF Cup tournament with perfect points.
The Indonesian national team temporarily topped the Group B standings with a collection of three points, but is still waiting for the ongoing results of Laos vs Vietnam to ensure the top position of the standings.
