The Sinking Of The Lorena Sari Ship In Madura-Situbondo Waters, 49 Survived, 1 Died

SITUBONDO - Search and Rescue Team (SAR) stated the Ship

49 people survived, one passenger died, the other funds were declared missing in the incident of the sinking of KM Lorena Sari between the Madura-Situbondo sea waters. The ship carried 51 passengers.

The Commander of the SAR Operations Team from the Jember SAR Post Basarnas oversees Situbondo Jefri said that of the 51 passengers on the sinking wooden ship, 49 of them survived.

"Dozens of passengers from KLM Lorena Sari were evacuated by the South Berlian Ship that passed at the scene, and is currently in the evacuation process at the Feri Janger Port," he told reporters in Situbondo, East Java, Antara, Sunday, December 8.

The Lorena Sari Motor Screenboat carried 51 passengers and sank for several hours while traveling from Sapudi Island, Sumenep Regency, Madura, to Kalbut Harbor, Situbondo, East Java, Sunday afternoon.

According to information compiled by ANTARA, the Lorena Sari Motorcycle Sailing Ship carrying 51 passengers sank after several hours of travel from Sapudi Island to Kalbut Harbor, Situbondo, at around 13.30 WIB.

It is not yet known for certain the cause of the sinking of KLM Lorena Sari, but it is strongly suspected that the wooden ship had a leak in the hull until it sank.

The pilot ship's passengers were evacuated by the South Berlian Motorboat which happened to pass at the location where the wooden ship sank.

From observations, at 18.30 WIB, a number of ambulances began evacuating dozens of passengers on the wooden ship from the Berlian Nusantara Motorboat at the Feri Janger Port.
