Basarnas Bakauheni Successfully Evacuated Jagantara KMP Which Ran Aground On Kandang Lunik Island
The Office Team of the Bakauheni National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), Lampung, managed to evacuate the Jagantara Passenger Motor Ship (KMP) which ran aground on Kandang Lunik Island.
"Yes, that's right, the KMP Jagantara ship that ran aground had been successfully withdrawn or evacuated at around 18:11 WIB," said Head of the Bakauheni SAR Post, Rezie Kuswara, in South Lampung, Antara, Sunday, December 8.
He explained that at 18:11 WIB the ship was successfully pulled out of the location and ran aground with the help of the Tugboat or a fishing boat from Merak, Banten. The ship ran aground on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 22:30 WIB.
"The passenger evacuation process took place from 00:30 p.m. until this afternoon, the passenger evacuation was just completed," he said.
The chronology of the ship's failure began on Saturday at 22:30 WIB, the personnel received a report from KSOP Bakauheni, that KMP Jagantara which sailed from pier IV of Bakauheni Port to Merak Port, Banten ran aground near Kandang Lunik Island.

"Based on information from the captain of KMP Jagantara, the ship ran aground on Saturday (7/12) at around 21:20 WIB near Kandang Lunik Island Bakuheni due to rainy weather factors, visibility and current so that the ship was dragged and ran aground," he said.
