Situbondo Police Evacuates 51 Passengers Of KM Lorena Who Drowned On Madura-Situbondo Travel

SITUBONDO - A motorboat or wooden boat carrying dozens of passengers sank for several hours while traveling from Sapudi Island, Sumenep Regency, Madura, to Kalbut Harbor, Situbondo, East Java, today.

Head of the Situbondo Police, AKP Gede Sukarmadiyasa, said his members were currently preparing to evacuate the wooden ship's passengers.

"Based on the information we received, the motor sailing ship sank after several hours of travel from Sapudi Island (Madura) to Kalbut Port (Situbondo)," said AKP Gede as quoted by Antara, Sunday, December 8.

One of the families of the victim in Situbondo, Masdari, admitted that he received information after receiving a call from his family who was riding the wooden boat.

"My family has 15 people who departed from Sapudi Island to Situbondo. The information was evacuated by ships passing by at the location," he said.

According to information compiled by ANTARA, the Lorena Motorcycle Sailing Ship, which is estimated to have carried 51 passengers, sank after traveling from Sapudi Island to Kalbut Harbor, Situbondo, at around 13:30 WIB.

The pilot ship's passengers were evacuated by the cargo ship KM Berlian Selatan which happened to pass at the location where the wooden ship sank.

Currently, the cargo ship that evacuated the wooden ship passengers is on its way to the Anchor Port.
