Ministry Of Industry Wide Opens Faucet For Alcoholic Drink Exports
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) has wide opened the taps for exporting locally made alcoholic beverages due to excessive domestic production and large market potential.
"We encourage exports, promote and we brand," said Director General of Agro Industry of the Ministry of Industry Putu Juli Ardika quoting Antara.
The Ministry of Industry noted that the production volume of the alcoholic beverage industry in the country in 2023 reached 324.1 million liters, an increase compared to 320.8 million liters in 2022.
Class A alcoholic beverages were mostly produced reaching 194.4 million liters, class B reached 118.1 million liters and class C reached 11.6 million liters.
Meanwhile, in 2023, the export value of alcoholic beverages will reach a total of 14.1 million US dollars, or an increase of around 46 percent compared to 2022 reaching 9.6 million US dollars.
The largest export value in 2023 is class A alcoholic beverages of 8.5 million US dollars.
There are also classifications of class A alcoholic beverages containing less than five percent of which are beer, class B reaching 5-20 percent such as wine, and group C which is above 20 percent such as spirit/whiskey.
Countries that absorb a lot of alcoholic beverage products from Indonesia are Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Russia, China, Australia, Timor Leste, the Netherlands, Kenya, and Japan.
Meanwhile, industry excise revenues in 2023 will reach IDR 7.74 trillion and in 2022 it will reach IDR 7.76 trillion.

On the other hand, the import value of alcoholic beverages in Indonesia in 2023 will reach a total of 27.1 million US dollars, with the largest value being class B of 17.6 million US dollars.
The end of restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic has helped encourage the increase in the need for drinks abroad.
"This indicates that our products can compete and be liked by the global market," he said.
The Ministry of Industry noted that alcoholic beverage companies in Indonesia reached 107 units located in Bali, North Sulawesi, East Java, Central Java and Banten, which attracted 4,449 workers.
The investment value reaches IDR 3.8 trillion with a production capacity of 673 million liters per year, which is more than 60 percent of class A products.
