The State Mosque In IKN, Which Replaces Istiqlal, Is Ready To Accommodate Thousands Of Eid Prayers In 2025

JAKARTA - The State Mosque in the capital city of the archipelago (IKN) is targeted to be ready to be used for Eid prayers on 1 Syawal 1446 Hijriah, which falls in 2025, with a capacity of up to 5,580 worshipers, said an official at the Presidential Communication Office (PCO).

"The construction of the State Mosque of IKN has reflected infrastructure progress in the capital city of the archipelago and also emphasized the spirit of diversity, respect and tolerance between religious believers," said PCO spokesman Hariqo Wibawa Satria quoting Antara.

He said the State Mosque, which is being built in IKN, was designed to accommodate up to 60,000 worshipers. In this early stage, the mosque is designed to be able to accommodate 29,000 worshipers.

Hariqo said that this construction project is in the first phase, which includes the construction of the main building of a mosque with four floors, two mezzanine floors, and a two-story courtyard that functions as a multipurpose and parking area.

PCO informed that the mosque building is located on an area of 32,125 square meters with a total building area, including the plaza, reaching 60,173 square meters.

In addition, the mosque is also equipped with a Minaret covering an area of 427 square meters, a two-story commercial building covering an area of 2,212 square meters, and a support building covering an area of 727 square meters.

The State Mosque is equipped with adequate parking facilities for the convenience of visitors. The parking area includes four special VVIP lots, one lot for disabled, five lots for buses, and 64 lots for parking on the LG floor in the courtyard area.

The mosque building has three main elements, namely the main dome, open plaza, and urine. This modern design is combined with high functionality to support the needs of pilgrims and visitors.

"The shape of the mosque dome takes the concept of the symbol of the sacrificial and the shape of the galaxy as an infinite interpretation of the universe," he said.

At the Plaza Open Area, said Hariqo, giving firm access to the direction of Qiblat. Meanwhile, the mosque tower or minaret has a height of 99 meters symbolizing asmaul husna and presenting a circular shape upward implies a prayer that is performed and to symbolize the value of God.

Hariqo hopes that this project will become one of the religious and cultural icons in IKN, as well as a symbol of the splendor of new civilization in Indonesia.

"This mosque will coexist in the center of worship area with other places of worship, such as churches, temples, monasteries, pagodas and Basilica Nusantara Santo Francis Xaverius, which is the first basilica in Indonesia," he said.
