Mesut Ozil And A Group Of Investors Ready To Acquire 50 Percent Of Mexican League Club Shares
JAKARTA - Fenerbahce player and former Asenal player Mesut Ozil is part of a group seeking to buy a 50 percent stake in Mexican League MX club Necaxa, a source told ESPN.
The source confirmed Ozil's manoeuvre but declined to elaborate further on the details of the deal.
Necaxa itself has refused to make any plans to change its shareholding but admits there is an agreement with an investment group.
"We plan to partner with a group with a very experienced player in football and in the management of a large club at an international level. This deal will strengthen our institutions and take it to the next level," Necaxa reported antara.
Sportico was the first medium to report on the possibility of this acquisition.
In addition to Ozil, among those in the investor group are real estate investor Al Tylis, DC United executive Sam Porter, actress Eva Longoria, model Kate Upton and her husband and Houston Astros pitcher Justin Verlander.
Necaxa, based in the Mexican city of Aguascalientes, has won the Mexican premier league three times.
