PBSI Prepares For Farewell To Hendra Setiawan
JAKARTA The Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) has confirmed that it will prepare a special farewell with veteran player Hendra Setiawan.
The Secretary General of PBSI, Ricky Subagja, ensured that the event as the last tribute would definitely be held at the Indonesia Masters 2025 as Hendra's last event.
"Yesterday I met directly with Hendra. Incidentally, we had activities here yesterday. So, we immediately met with the General Chair (Fadil Imran). Yes, we are discussing (discussing the event)," said Ricky.
Hendra announced his retirement from badminton in the middle of this week through his Instagram social media. He ended his career after 35 years in badminton.
Indonesia Masters 2025 as Hendra's last tournament will take place at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, on 21-26 January 2025.

The farewell ceremony with badminton legends at Istora has indeed become a tradition of PBSI. Previously, a similar separation had been made for Tontowi Ahmad, Liliyana Natsir, and Greysia Polii.
Ricky did not detail the events prepared by the federation at all. He only emphasized that as a legend, Hendra deserved the last respects.
"God willing, we will do it. We don't know what kind of event it was, but we have discussed it there," said Ricky.
While actively playing, a series of important achievements were successfully inscribed by Hendra Setiawan, both when paired with Markis Kido and Mohammad Ahsan.
He was recorded as winning the 2008 Olympic men's doubles gold medal in Beijing with Kido. In addition, he has also won the World Championship four times.
Of the four titles, one of them was won with Kido in 2007 and the rest in 2013, 2015, and 2019 was obtained with Ahsan.
Then a series of other important achievements are one Thomas Cup, two All England champions, two Asian Games gold medals, three BWF Superseries/BWF Tour Finals titles, and one World Cup.
