Men's Number Becomes Indonesia's Hope At BWF World Tour Finals 2024
JAKARTA The men's singles and doubles sectors are considered to have the greatest opportunity to secure the title for Indonesia at the BWF World Tour Finals 2024.
Secretary General of PBSI, Ricky Subagja, said that the two sectors had quite convincing performances in the last few tournaments.
"I feel that in men's singles and men's doubles it is very good, yes," said Ricky at the PBSI Cipayung National Training Center, East Jakarta, on Friday, December 6, 2024.
At the closing of the season, Indonesia will field two men's doubles pairs, namely Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto and Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Mohammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani.
Then, from the men's singles sector, Indonesia will be represented by world number four and 2018 Asian Games gold medalist Jonatan Christie.
Ricky said that apart from the two sectors, he also hopes for the women's singles who won the 2024 Paris Olympics bronze medal, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung.

"Gregoria had several previous obstacles on the Asian tour. However, his condition is now improving and his preparations are the same," said Ricky.
In this year's edition, the BWF World Tour Finals is confirmed without the world number one men's doubles Liang Wei Kencang/Wang Chang (China) and world number Kang Min-hyuk/Seo Seung-jae (South Korea).
The two pairs did not qualify for qualifying because they were outside the Road to BWF World Tour Finals 2024 ranking.
In the men's singles, Jonathan can also be more relieved because of the absence of Viktor Axelsen. The Danish player decided to withdraw from the tournament because he still had to recover with a leg injury.
The BWF World Tour Finals 2024 will take place from 11-15 December 2024 in Hangzhou, China. This tournament provides a prize of 2.5 million US dollars or equivalent to Rp39.6 billion.
