BMKG Warns Of Extreme Weather: Heavy Rain In Several Regions Of Indonesia

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued an early warning in the form of potential light, moderate, to heavy rain which could be accompanied by lightning and strong winds in various major cities in Indonesia on Friday, December 6.

Meanwhile, several other big cities will experience light to moderate rain, namely Aceh, Medan, Tanjung Pinang, Pangkal Pinang, Lampung, Serang, Jakarta, Bandung, Denpasar, Banjarmasin, Samarinda, Palu, Ternate, Ambon, Manokwari, Jayapura, and Jayawijaya.

Several other big cities are predicted to experience only cloudy conditions today, including Pekanbaru, Palangkaraya, and Gorontalo.

Furthermore, for the forecast for sea wave heights in the territory of Indonesia, BMKG predicts that generally it is in the range of 0.5 to 2.5 m, while high waves up to 4 m have the potential to occur in the Southern Sunda Strait and the West Lampung waters.
