Carlos O'Connell, The Musicians Who Quoted Zionist And Netanyahu When Receiving Rolling Stone UK Awards 2024
JAKARTA - The public seems to need to remember the name of Carlos O'Connell, a musician who dares to loudly condemn crimes against humanity. He is the guitarist of the post-punk band from Ireland, Fontaines DC.
Carlos stole the world's attention as he delivered his winning speech at the Rolling Stone UK Awards in London on the evening of November 28. There the band won the Album Award through their work, Romance.
At first O'Connell spoke quite casually, before his next statement became a public spotlight. "Look, I don't think there are only a few words to say here," he said that night.
"It's a bit strange that this is the first time it's been said all night, but I'll just say: Free Palestine. Free Palestine. Free Palestine. Let go of Netanyahu. Love Zionism. Free Palestine," he said with a sharp gaze.

This is indeed not the first time for Carlos O'Connell to voice Palestinian independence. He is known to be involved in several other activities such as Voices For Gaza, where musicians unite voices to protect the humanitarian rights of the Palestinian people.
Together with other Fontaines DC members, he also urged a ceasefire in the conflict area to prevent the increasing number of casualties that continue to fall.
