Wuling Registers New SUVs In Indonesia, Targets PHEV Market?

JAKARTA - Wuling seems to be planning to add to the lineup of models next year, the proof is that this Chinese brand has registered the latest Indonesian model.

This assurance refers to the Directorate of Copyright and Industrial Design of the Directorate General of Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham), with Official News of Industrial Design with code 68/DI/2024.

The design is registered by SAIC GM WULING AUTOMOBILE CO., LTD which is located in China. At first glance, the car is a five-pass SUV referring to the Baojun Yunhai model in China.

As is known, Baojun Yunhai himself in China comes with several options behind his hood. This model is offered in the PHEV to BEV versions. If you refer to Wuling in Indonesia, which is still focused on three electric car models, namely Air ev, FUEV and CloudEV, it is very likely that the model to be brought is PHEV.

"The electric car presented by Wuling is still adequate and answers consumer needs in Indonesia. Wuling currently has three electric car models, namely Air ev, BinguoEV, and Cloud EV," said Wuling Motors Public Relations Manager Brian Gomgom, when met some time ago.

If you review the specifications, the PHEV variant, this car is equipped with a 1,500 cc engine of the Atkinson four-cylinder naturally aspirationd cylinder which produces 105 hp and a maximum torque of 130 Nm. This engine is then combined with a 201-hp electric motor and lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery.

Thanks to the combination of gasoline engines and electrical motors embedded, this car is capable of traveling up to 1,100 km when the gasoline and battery tanks are fully charged. There is also a choice for BEV which has a range of 500-600 km in one full charge.

So, it is worth waiting for the presence of a new car from Wuling which will target the PHEV and BEV markets in Indonesia.
