Democrats Claim To Win In 24 Gubernatorial Elections And 250 Regency/City Regional Head Elections
JAKARTA The Democrat Party claims to have won a significant victory in the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections. Deputy of the Election Winning Body (Bappilu) of the Democratic Party DPP, Kamhar Lakumani, stated that his party had completed inputting data on the results of the Pilgub and Regency/City Regional Head Elections on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.
Based on this data, the Democratic Party won 24 provinces in the gubernatorial election, or about 64.86% of the total Pilgub held. "We also managed to win in 250 districts/cities or 51.12% in district/city elections," said Kamhar, Wednesday, December 4.
Of these, 92 regions or 36.8% of them are cadres of the Democratic Party who run for regent, mayor, or deputy regent and mayor.
Kamhar added that his party was happy because the victory occurred in a number of areas with a large number of voters, even more than one electoral district (dapil) of the DPR. For example, in East Java, Democrats carried candidates in 35 of the 38 Pilkada and successfully won in 23 regions or 65.71%. In Central Java, Democrats participated in 34 of the 35 Pilkada and won in 19 regions or 55.88%.
In West Java, Democrats carry candidates in 27 Pilkada and win in 12 regions or 44.44%, while in Banten, this party won 5 out of 8 Pilkada or 62.5%.
In the Sumatra region, the Democratic Party also recorded a significant victory. In North Sumatra, Democrats were successful in 20 regions from 32 elections that were followed, or 62.5%. Lampung recorded great success with a victory in 10 regions from 14 Pilkada, or 71.42%, while in West Sumatra, Democrats won in 11 regions or 57.89% of the 19 Pilkada followed.
In Riau, this party won in 6 regions from 12 Pilkada (50%), in Aceh won in 10 regions from 23 Pilkada (43.48%), and in South Sumatra won in 6 regions from 17 Pilkada (35.29%).
The Democrat Party also showed strong performance in a number of areas outside Java. In South Sulawesi, this party won in 15 regions from 24 elections which were followed (62.5%).
In West Kalimantan, Democrats won 9 wins from 14 Pilkada (64.28%), in South Kalimantan they won in 7 regions from 12 Pilkada (58.3%), while in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) this party won in 4 regions from 10 Pilkada (40%) and in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) won 6 from 21 Pilkada (28.57%).

Kamhar added, with this result, the Democrat Party is increasingly optimistic that it can contribute to the success of President Prabowo's government priority programs.
"We hope that this victory can strengthen the role of the Democratic Party in supporting development and programs that are beneficial to the people," concluded Kamhar.
