Participation Of Bogor City Pilkada Voters Only Reaches 63 Percent, Below Target
BOGOR - The General Election Commission (KPU) of Bogor City, West Java, reported that the voter participation rate in the 2024 Pilkada only reached 63 percent of the total 815,249 voters on the final voter list (DPT). This achievement is below the 85 percent target set by the West Java Provincial KPU.
The chairman of the Bogor City KPU, M. Habibi Zaenal Arifin, said that the level of participation was still far from expectations. "If you look at the results of the KPU itself, approximately 63 percent have come to the TPS, while the target is 85 percent. This means that it is still below the target," Habibi said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, December 3 night.
To increase community participation in using the right to vote, the Bogor City KPU has taken various steps, including collaborating with the Bogor City Government (Pemkot). One of these efforts is to convey an appeal to residents to come to the TPS through broadcasts at mosques on voting day.
"The maximum effort has been carried out by the Bogor City KPU," said Habibi.
However, Habibi acknowledged that there were a number of challenges that caused the low voter participation. One of them is the saturation of the community who recently participated in the Presidential Election and Legislative Elections in February 2024.
"There may be saturation from the community because it is still close to yesterday's 2024 election. Therefore, this achievement will be an evaluation material for the Bogor City KPU to increase voter participation in the future," he said.
Habibi also revealed that there were around 290 thousand residents who did not exercise their voting rights. However, this figure does not fully reflect the people who are not present at the TPS, because it is partly influenced by administrative constraints.

"For example, the C6 form that is not distributed, because voters have died or moved domicile, is also one of the causes," he explained.
With this result, the Bogor City KPU is committed to continuing to evaluate strategies and formulate more effective steps to increase public participation in the next elections.
