Toddler Died In Accident On Jalan Perumahan Mataram, Police Still Investigating
The Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) team of the Mataram City Police, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), followed up on the case of a five-year-old baby (balita) with the initials RKR who died in an accident on a residential road.
Head of the Mataram Police Satreskrim AKP Regi Halili said that his party was following up on the basis of delegating the Mataram Police Traffic Unit (Satlantas).
"Yes, so we have received this case from the Traffic Unit, we are conducting an investigation (investigation)," said Regi as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, December 4.
During the investigation process, the police today held their first title with a criminal expert to see the elements of unlawful acts from the handling of cases that came from reports from the victim's parents.
From the results of the title, Regi assured that his party must ask for information from the parties, both the reporter and the alleged perpetrator.
"Because it is in its delegation, we have just received the police report and the results of the crime scene investigation, for information from the parties, we have not, and we will do that. Likewise with the results of the post-mortem, we are still asking the traffic police," he said.
Previously, the Head of the Mataram Police Traffic Unit, AKP Yozana Fajri Sidik, said that his party had transferred the case to the Satreskrim because it was considering the rules of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation (LLAJ).
"Based on the results of our internal title from our initial investigation, the steps to resolve this case are regulated in the Criminal Code, so we follow up on the handling by transferring it to the Criminal Investigation Unit," said Yozana.
According to him, the problem of traffic accidents that occur on the road complex housing is not regulated in the LLAJ Law.
"So, this handling is different from the LLAJ Law, because it occurs on the road in the housing complex, it's a normal road category. If it happens on public roads, it will only be handled by the traffic police by the LLAJ Law," he said.
The accident that resulted in RKR's death took place on Wednesday (20/11), at around 13.30 WITA. The suspect at that time was driving a white Honda HRV car.
The alleged perpetrator was revealed to be a neighbor of the victim who was in the Puri Anggrek housing complex, Sekarbela District, Mataram City.
