Three Indonesian Representatives Entered The Nomine BWF Player Of The Year 2024 List
JAKARTA Three Indonesian representatives are included in the nominee list to receive the BWF Player of the Year 2024 or the 2024 Best Player Award.
The International Badminton Federation (BWF) released the list on December 2, 2024. There are five main awards provided by the parent international badminton.
It consists of the best players in the men's singles sector, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles. Each sector has only four nominees.
The three Indonesian representatives who were included in the series were the women's singles Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, the men's doubles Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, and the mixed doubles Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja.
These Indonesian representatives also side by side with the gold medalists at the 2024 Paris Olympics, such as Viktor Axelsen, An Se-young, Chen Qing Chen/Jia Yi Fan, and Zheng Si Wei/Huang Ya Qiong.

These players are proposed by looking at consistency throughout the season, fair play attitude, and personality. It was all judged for a period of 12 months, starting from December 1, 2023 to November 30, 2024.
In the men's singles number, Viktor Axelsen will face competition with three other nominees, namely Shi Yu Qi, Chou Tien Chen, and compatriot Anders Antonsen.
Furthermore, in the women's singles number, apart from Gregoria who was defeated in the semifinals of the Paris Olympics, An Se-young will also compete with the Chinese duo, namely Wang Zhi Yi and Han Yue.
Moving to the men's doubles sector, Liang Wei Win/Wang Chang, silver medalist in Paris 2024, was among nominees with Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen, and Kang Min-hyuk/Seo Seung-jae.
For the women's doubles featuring the 2024 Olympic finalists, Chen Qing Chen/Jia Yi Fan and their compatriots Liu Sheng Shu/Tan Ning as well as Baek Ha-na/Lee So-hee and Sumi Matsuyama/Chiharu Shida.
Finally, in the Dejan/Gloria mixed doubles, three Chinese representatives, namely Zheng Si Wei/Huang Yaqiong, Asian champion Feng Yan Zhe/Huang Dong Ping, and Indonesian Open champion Jiang Zhen Bang/Wei Ya Xin.
The BWF Player of The Year 2024 nomination will be announced at the 2024 BWF World Tour Finals Galanner event on Monday, December 9, 2024, at Hangzhou Hall, Intercontinental Hotel Hangzhou, China.
