Meeting With Opsel And PPATK, Komdigi Discuss Efforts To Strengthen Against Online Gambling

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Digital has just held a meeting with the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) and cellular operators in an effort to combat online gambling in Indonesia.

The meeting, which was held with the Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid, discussed two main topics, which will be held with all parties involved.

First, Komdigi asked cellular operators to disseminate information to the public through their customer channels, to avoid illegal activities such as online gambling.

"Socialization in various forms, some are segmented, some are targeted, and so on," said Acting Director General of Digital Infrastructure, Ismail in a press conference on Tuesday, December 3 at the Ministry of Komdigi Jakarta office.

While the second topic, Ismail added, Komdigi will also discuss the follow-up to limiting credit transfers, to avoid online gambling transactions using credit.

"And this is a preliminary meeting, just a meeting that is still early, so we will follow up again in the form of future technical meetings to discuss in more detail the steps and processes that will be carried out further," continued Ismail.

Ismail also emphasized that this discussion was said to be an expansion of Komdigi and South opacity efforts, after previously they had limited the transaction to a maximum of credit transfer, namely one million.

"It's been running (limiting the maximum credit transfer), so the activity is already running, and it's been done. This is a meeting to be sharpened again," he said.
