Governor Strengthens Kaltara Position As Quality Cooking Oil Production Center

North Kalimantan (Kaltara) Governor Zainal A. Paliwang ensured that the plan to build the Palm Oil Cooking Oil Industry in Kaltara would strengthen the position of the 34th province as a center for national and international quality cooking oil production.

This was conveyed by the Governor of Kaltara in the preparation of the Feasibility Study Document for the Development of the Palm Oil Cooking Oil Industry in Kaltara, Monday, December 2.

The seminar is a strategic step to advance the palm oil processing industry in Kaltara.

"Through this feasibility study, we can obtain an objective and comprehensive picture from technical, policy, to social and cultural impacts, which will serve as a guideline in the decision-making of the oil palm cooking industry," said Kaltara Governor Zainal A. Paliwang.

The governor explained that the potential for the palm oil sector in Kaltara in 2022, the area of oil palm planting reaches 38,061 hectares with a production of 73,946.30 tons.

" Nunukan Regency is the area with the widest palm oil. This commodity contributes significantly to the regional economy, reaching Rp3.9 trillion in the 2022 GDP," continued Zainal.

However, Zainal acknowledged that the existing infrastructure, including 20 palm oil processing plants in Kaltara, still has not been able to accommodate all production.

"With the development of the cooking oil industry, we hope to increase the added value of local products, create new jobs, and encourage more equitable economic growth," explained the Governor.

The governor targets the contribution of palm oil to the 2024 Kaltara APBD to reach Rp56.3 billion.

Therefore, he invites all parties to work together to realize the development of a modern, efficient, and sustainable palm oil industry.

"This Feasibility Study will provide constructive recommendations to perfect feasibility study documents and strengthen Kaltara's position as a high-quality cooking oil production center in the national and international markets," he said.
