Indonesia Sends 32 Athletes To World Abilitysport Youth Games 2024
JAKARTA Indonesia sent as many as 32 young athletes to take part in the World Abilitysport Youth Games 2024 on 1-7 December 2024 at Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.
This is a multi-pronged sporting event devoted to athletes with physical disabilities under the age of 23.
"Overall the athletes are in good condition. Everyone is happy because they will face this big event," said Chef de Mission (CdM) of the Indonesian contingent, Mulyani Sri Suhartuti.
In total, there are four sports (sports) that are competed in this year's edition. The sports in question are athletics, weightlifters, table tennis players, and boccia.
Indonesia participated as part of the development of potential young athletes to catch a ticket to the 2028 Paralympics which took place in Los Angeles, United States.
"Starting from a young age, of course, it will continue to senior levels along with the time and achievement of achievements. They will replace senior athletes as part of regeneration," said Mulyani.

The departing Indonesian contingent consisted of 17 athletic athletes, eight table tennis athletes, four boccia athletes, and three weightlifters.
Participation in the World Abilitysport Youth Games 2024 will make these athletes will get international disability classification status.
This classification is needed as a condition for participating in international championships. In addition, this participation will automatically increase their flight hours.
