120 Indonesian Navy Soldiers Ready To Go To Lebanon This Month

JAKARTA - As many as 120 Indonesian Navy soldiers who are members of the Maritime Task Force (Satgas MTF) TNI Garuda Contingent (Konga) XXVIII-P UNIFIL are ready to be dispatched to Lebanon in the third week of December 2024.

Head of the Indonesian Navy Information Service (Kadispenal) First Admiral TNI I Made Wira Hady Arsanta Wardhana explained that the Commander of the Task Force (Dansatgas) MTF TNI Konga XXVIII-P UNIFIL Marine Lieutenant Colonel (P) Anugeraah Annurullah explained directly the preparations for departure to the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy (KSAL) Admiral Muhammad Ali and the main officials of the Indonesian Navy Headquarters at the Denma Headquarters Auditorium, Cilangkap, Jakarta, Monday, December 2.

During the meeting, Lt. Col. Anugerah, who is also the Commander of KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda-367, reported the readiness of personnel, logistics, weapons, and explained the shipping route taken by KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda (SIM)-367 from the Koarmada II Command Headquarters in Surabaya, Jakarta, to Beirut, Lebanon.

"KSAL provides direction to all Task Force personnel to always prioritize safety and professionalism while on duty. KSAL also emphasized the importance of maintaining the good name of the TNI, nation and state by avoiding all forms of violations of the law," said Kadispenal explaining the direction of Admiral Ali during the meeting. reported by ANTARA.

KRI SIM-367, which also transports HS-1306 helicopters from the Indonesian Navy Aviation Center, is scheduled to depart for Beirut, Lebanon, in the 3rd week of December 2024 on the Jakarta-Batam-Colombo (Sri Lanka)-Salalah (Oman)-Port Said (Egypt)-Beirut route.

In Beirut, the TNI MTF Task Force XXVIII-P UNIFIL and KRI SIM-367 continued the peace mission currently being carried out by the XXVIII-O UNIFIL TNI MTF Task Force until early January 2025.

Generally, the TNI MTF task force carries out peace missions in the waters of Lebanon and the Mediterranean Sea for a period of a year.

A total of 120 Indonesian Navy soldiers who are members of the MTF TNI Task Force Konga XXVIII-P UNIFIL since September have attended the camp and pre-task training in Surabaya, East Java. The group is scheduled to depart from Surabaya to Jakarta in the 2nd week of December 2024.

Maritime Task Force (MTF) is one of the units under the control of the United Nations Peace Forces in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

In addition to MTF, the TNI also sent its troops to join other UNIFIL units which included the Mechanical Battalion Task Force (INDOBATT), the Headquarters Supporting Task Force/Force Headquarter Support Unit (FHQSU), the Indo Force Protection Company (FPC) Task Force.

Then the TNI Civil-Military/Civilian Military Coordination (CIMIC) Task Force, the Military Community Outreach Unit (MCOU) Task Force, and the Level 2 Hospital Task Force.

Most of the TNI soldiers who are members of UNIFIL operate on land, while the MTF Task Force carries out its duties at sea.

Indonesia is currently still the country that sends the most soldiers to carry out peace missions with UNIFIL in Lebanon, which is 1,230 soldiers.
