Marion Jola Says Indonesia Doesn't Have A Musical Theater, Joko Anwar Is Sad

JAKARTA - Director and producer Joko Anwar said he was sad after singer Marion Jola said that Indonesia did not have musical theater performances during an interview with Jonathan Bailey and Jeff Goldblum during the promotion of the film from the United States, Wicked. "My first question is that many people in Indonesia don't know about wicked because there is no musical theater in Indonesia, they are not very popular in Indonesia. There are many musical theaters like Wicked who are very well known," said Marion Jola, quoted by VOI from Instagram @jokoanwar, Monday, December 2. Hearing this, Joko Anwar tried to give a response. He admitted that he was sad when he found out that Indonesia was said to have no musical theater. "Sadly, it is said that there is no musical theater in Indonesia," commented Joko Anwar.

Even though Joko Anwar believes that musical theater activists have worked very hard and were dedicated to their fields. "It's really sad. Imagine the Indonesian theater musical activists have been working hard, dedicated without making a profit, to continue to make musical theaters, until finally the audience was always crowded and the public could be close to the musical," added Joko Anwar.
